正光云吞面~ Once a glorious and crowded cinema at Tanjong Katong Road called "Hollywood Theatre" which was a place where many older generation Singaporean used to spend their time there. Movies and shows by many overseas artist bought life to this place and well as one of the favourite food street in Singapore.
Hollywood Coffeeshop is situated right behind the cinema under the shade of a big tree. 正光云吞面was visited by many for their very traditional style wan ton mee. Other than the friendliness of the stall owner, the delicious food is a crowd puller that bought many eaters, especially during weekends.
Chewy and moist char sio coupled with fresh wan ton and prawn dumplings enhance the overall taste, complementing the chewy and Q texture of their egg noodles (全蛋面), from the faithful supplier which the owners had been using for decades.
The noodle comes in black sauce with chilli or tomatoes sauce mixed with frangence oil and pork lard. Very traditional Cantonese style serving which is a choice for many especially the older generation. Their ingredients are all handmade which the owners had been sticking to it from day 1. The wan ton's filling is a mixture of minced meat and Stockfish "Ti Por/柴鱼" which is getting costly lately. Their prawns in their dumplings is very fresh. Stockfish enhanced the taste and smell of the wan tons which is 1 of the pull factor for decades.
Every since the old coffeeshop shifted due to en bloc, 正光shifted to the upgraded Haig Road Food Centre. The owners are still diligently serving their customers the most traditional and original preparation.
